Port Sanilac

Port Sanilac is our first repeat marina on Lake Huron from last year. We had a pretty good sail today. The winds were a little tricky in the morning as it was another close reach with waves. Although it wasn't a long distance, because we had to tack some, it was a little longer, but we were able to sail most of the day. The wind did die and the lake became flat later in the day. We had some motor at the end. This year is essentially the opposite of last year where Lake Huron was with the wind and Like Michigan was against it. Now we're paying the price in the other direction and have to sail into the wind more. Despite our excursion into the North Channel and Georgian Bay, we have still used less fuel than last year between Muskegon and Port Sanilac.

View of the Harbor Beach shoreline as we left. The marina is right of center by the lighthouse and the town is left of center behind the big buildings, which are Corteva Agriscience facilities.

Port Sanilac Municipal marina had very nice facilities. It has showers, laundry, a room with sofas and a kitchenette, and WIFI that reached the boat, a rarity. We ate at the same place as last year, Blue Water Sports Bar and Grill. As with Harbor Beach, there is no brewery in this town. I think the west side of Michigan, on Lake Michigan have bigger towns and more tourists to make a brewery work. But like the restaurant in Harbor Beach, this bar also had several Michigan craft beers including Bell's, Founders and a new one Huco Brew Company, a brewery between Harbor Beach and Port Sanilac. They only had a Blueberry Blond Ale on tap that actually wasn't too bad. The blueberry was balance with hops to make it slightly bitter and mildly blueberry.
