Harbor Beach Michigan

The weather turned out as predicted and we had a clear low wind day for our Lake Huron crossing. Winds were low and coming in at a close reach (30-60 degrees). The waves were a little high given the light wind but that was probably remnants from yesterday's wind. The waves eventually flattened out. The wind was too low to just sail and go fast enough to make it across the lake in any reasonable time, like by the end of today. We ended up power sailing and given the wind direction we were able to just set a straight line from start to finish and follow along it. No tacking or jibing to make the trip longer. The trip was a long blue trip. The sky was light blue and the water was dark blue and that was pretty much it. Hardly any clouds and very little shoreline visible. We did notice that both Canada and US put a lot of windmills along the shore. The last things we say leaving Canada and the first things we saw approaching Michigan were a lot of windmills. In the distance, they were too small to get pictures of.

We've seen very few big ships this trip. Hear we crossed paths with one as we approach Harbor Beach Marina.

The lighthouse at the entrance to the breakwall leading to the marina.

The entrance to Harbor Beach Marina.

The marina had decent facilities. There were showers but no TV room or laundry. We walked about a mile to town along a nice bike path past a Corteva agriscience plant. We ate at a nice pub, Smally's, that had Michigan craft beers that are generally available such as Bell's.
