Cleveland
We had light winds out of the south on a beam reach that were sufficient for enough speed. Midmorning the wind died and stayed that way for a bit, so we motored. In early afternoon the wind picked up again, this time from the north for the opposite side beam reach. The afternoon wind was strong enough that we made decent speed all the way to Cleveland. There were no bugs today. We don't know why as conditions were pretty much the same. The difference being that we stayed close to shore. I'm wondering if the bugs came from the floating mats of seaweed that we had to sail through in the middle of Lake Erie.
We were in desperate need of groceries, especially since we were taking on a passenger. We found this grocery store that had a wine and beer tasking room. I had a pilsner from Immigrant Son Brewery from Lakewood, a suburb of Cleveland. This is also a decent American version of a European pilsner. We had dinner at a place called The Brothers. We had met the owner at The Old Prague Restaurant in Vermillion. It was a short Uber ride away. It was Jazz night and they had a brass orchestra that included 5 saxophones, 4 trombones, 4 trumpets, drums, a bass and a keyboard. Their music was excellent. They didn't have any local lake fish so I had blacken salmon that was good. The beers that they had were all ones that I have mentioned before.
The marina is very nice. It had the best showers of any we've been to. No Laundry though, which was a disappointment. The dock was also wide and non-skid. Some can be very narrow, wobbly and slippery metal. It was also right behind the R&R HOF. Like last year, we did not have a chance to go in.
