Manistee
The marina in Manistee that we stayed at was on Lake Manistee. The channel to the lake ran through town then when we got to the lake we took a hard right and then another hard right into the marina. The marina looks like it is far from town but those two hard rights put us pretty much behind all of the buildings on the channel, so getting to town was a short walk. We didn't have time to check out the beach but we could see as we were coming in that it was quite large.

First of two draw bridges that we had to go through. They didn't seem to open them all the was so it was narrow at the top to negotiate the mast through. Had the boat rocked at all the mast could have hit both sides. I failed to get a picture of the second one. It was under construction, so they had to move equipment off of it before opening it.An interesting sailboat that we saw in the marina. It looked like it only had two foresails and not mainsails. It had strange masts that were shaped like small airfoils and might have provided some propulsion.

The sail from Manistee was very slow, but again, since we had a short leg, we tried to sail as long as possible. Eventually the wind stopped altogether and we had to motor. The coastline is the same type of dunes that we've had the whole Lake Michigan shoreline.
