Ford Yacht Club Grosse Ile Michigan

I finally have WIFI again at the Ford Yacht Club in Grosse Ile Michigan. This is the first place that had decent secure WIFI that reached the boat slip. I will use this opportunity to update the blog with more pictures.

The two days ago we were at Cedar Point, a roller coaster focused amusement park. We managed 10 roller coasters in the 6 hours that we were there. There are several more including the Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Steel Vengeance, Maverick and Raptor that we did not have time for. The ones that we did in the order that I recall we did them:

  1. Blue Streak
  2. Wild Mouse
  3. Gatekeeper
  4. Iron Dragon
  5. Rougarou
  6. Millennium Force
  7. Corkscrew
  8. Gemini
  9. Magnum XL-200
  10. Valravn

Since we arrived in the afternoon, we got evening passes that started at 4 PM and went until closing, 10 PM. Millennium Force was and may still be the highest and fastest coaster in which you are pulled up on a chain and just run down a hill. It is 310 feet high and reaches 90 MPH.

After Cedar Point we went to Put-In-Bay, a boat in party town. It's on an island, so you have to take a ferry or boat in yourself. It was more quiet than usually since it was a week day, but they were gearing up for pirates weekend, which I gather is quite an event. The waves were terrible when we arrived as I had mentioned in a previous post. The boat suffered some minor damage from contacting the dock. Surprisingly we slept well despite the boat rocking.

The sail from Put-In-Bay to Grosse Ile was uneventful. The winds ranged from just enough to none so we did a mixture of sailing and motoring. It rained off and on and was foggy most of the time. One freighter passed us on the way. Ford Yacht Club is too far from any amenities to walk. We'll get a much needed rest before pressing on up the Detroit River. We hope that the current is not too strong as this boat has a motor mostly for getting in and out of slips/moorings and not fighting river currents.

My our boat looks small among the yacht club members' boats.
